Is there a tool for generating a wordlist that has words that fit a certain regex? For example can you make crunch do this? Obviously doing a complete bruteforce based on a charset and filtering by a regex isn’t efficient enough.

Depends on the regex I guess. If your regex is a.*b then unlikely 🙂
But if it’s a[aeiou][a-z]b and so on — i.e., it’s character by character — then hashcat-utils may have some tool in it to do that; take a look at [https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=hashcat_utils](https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=hashcat_utils).

If you’re looking to find words that make sense and that fit a regex you can use use the Oxford dictionary for your words and easily brute force the 270,000 words they have.
