I’m working on my hacking course and I have discovered a cron job that is scheduled every hour that I can write to. I need to gain root access, and I was wondering what I should have the job do? Right now the job just cleans up some files. Can I have it elevate my privileges or open a netcat connection?

edit: I tried adding a netcat connection back to my machine but it didn’t seem to work. Is there any way to check if the cron job is running? I also cannot use vim due to the lousy netcat shell, and upgrading it doesn’t seem to work either. I also can’t use sed -i to remove the command I appended, permission denied. Any ideas on how to delete the last line?
