I want to create a set up where I can observe and analyse Bluetooth packets in a lab environment.

There appears to be methods of doing a MITM which involve a standard computer and others which involve specific hardware, in particular an [Ubertooth One](https://shop.hak5.org/products/ubertooth-one).

I can’t really tell what the benefit of the Ubertooth is compared to, say, a laptop with built in Bluetooth and analyzing the surrounding packets which its chip.

What options are there for sniffing these Bluetooth packets? As I mentioned this will be conducted in a lab and therefore factors such as mobility, cost or covertness aren’t important.
