Call to give top priority to information security in Belarus

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Taking into account the situation in the world, information security is becoming a key area of concern, member of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives Yevgeny Zaitsev told reporters. The MP took part in a videoconference of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Standing Committee on Defense and Security on 2 March, BelTA has learned.The participants of the meeting discussed CSTO model laws ‘On Information Security’, ‘On Information and Analytical Support of Law Enforcement Activities’, ‘On Countering Terror Attacks at Fuel and Energy Facilities’, as well as ‘On Peacekeeping Operations and Peacekeeping Forces’.“This work is part of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly program on the harmonization of national legislations for 2021-2025. These bills lay the basis for the use of the CSTO resources and capabilities to ensure the national security of our states. Taking into account the situation in the world and around our states, information security is getting to the forefront, because the approaches and techniques in this area are changing. The bills will lay the groundwork for implementing legislation in other states, and will help identify threats to national security in the information space, as well as instruments to respond to these threats, and will create a foundation for boost national security,” Yevgeny Zaitsev said.The parliamentarian gave some details on the model bill ‘On Information and Analytical Support of Law Enforcement Activities’. “This law will make it possible to reconcile the use of resources and capabilities to support the information and analytical activities of the organization, as well as to specify the parties, resources and capabilities that can be involved in the exchange of data, information,” he noted.
