Orca Security Raises $6.5M; MSSP and MDR Partnerships Coming?
Orca Security, an Israeli cybersecurity startup founded by former Check Point Software Technologies executives Avi Shua and Gil Geron, has raised $6.5 million in seed funding led by venture capital firm YL Ventures. The company will use the funding to enhance its Cloud Visibility Platform.
Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform provides insights into an organization’s cloud infrastructure, according to the company. It offers insights into security vulnerabilities, breaches and misconfigurations and helps organizations eliminate cyber risks in just minutes.
Although the company doesn’t appear to have a partner program at this stage of business, Orca Cloud indicated that MSSPs (managed security services providers (MSSPs) and MDR (managed detection and response) companies will be key to growth, according to ChannelBuzz.ca.
How Does Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform Work?
Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform provides a full-stack inventory of assets across an organization’s cloud environment, including operating systems, installed services and databases and their content, the company stated. In doing so, the platform helps organizations detect cyber risks across all of their cloud accounts.
In addition, Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform works without agents and deploys and scales instantaneously using read-only access, the company indicated. This ensures organizations can quickly evaluate their cloud assets and identify cyber risks before they escalate.
Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform is available to qualified customers, and the platform will be generally available later this year.
Lack of Visibility Is a Top Public Cloud Security Challenge
Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform empowers organizations to protect their data and assets stored in public cloud environments — something that remains a major problem for many information security professionals.
Information security professionals cited lack of visibility as the biggest barrier to secure their public cloud environments, according to a recent “State of Hybrid Cloud Security Survey” conducted by firewall management software provider FireMon. Also, more than 80 percent of survey respondents said they are “challenged” by the limitations and complexity of hybrid cloud security tools.
As organizations search for ways to secure their cloud environments, the demand for Orca’s Cloud Visibility Platform could increase. Meanwhile, MSSPs that integrate cloud security offerings into their portfolios could help their customers protect their data and assets across cloud environments.
